The Amatory Murderare an electronically-tinged rock band hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Put on their latest album A Different Frequencyand you become witness to an eclectic blend of industrial synth-rock combined with upbeat pop-rock sensibilities. Pulling from influences which include Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, IAMX, Type O Negative, Placebo, and New Order;theirs is a creative process that involves intensely thought out composition and experimentation in the recording studio. The band employs a variety of foundational sounds utilizing synthetic atmospheres, piano and programmed beat arrangements. Mixed with organic drum samples and live heavy guitars, the tracks are then topped off with angst-ridden dark lyrics.
Christian Peppas
–the band’s primary composer and producer–founded The Amatory Murderduring a time of reflection. Along with former Lauryn Hill guitarist O.T. Turbold and industrial-metal head Mario Drakos, Christian crafted the album A Different Frequency in an attempt to take the listener through a journey with one’s interactions in a world where everyone has become so self-absorbed, it’s often hard to maintain solid and meaningful relationships. In 2011, the band headlined their Live Nation Presents record release show at New York’s Gramercy Theatre(Blender Theater) to an enthusiastic and supportive audience. The live (and current) lineup of The Amatory Murder also includes Andrew Archey on bass guitar and Trevor Meyer on drums/analog drums. One of their current singles A Different Frequencywas released with an accompanying clay-mated music video created and directed by Charles Pieper and featured at the Se-Ma-For Animation Festival in Poland. The song was also used as the soundtrack song to a entry in the Santori Film Festival by an LA indy-film maker. Their follow-up singles, Inner Circuits and Perverted Views have both been released to already enthusiastic acclaim.

The first full-length album by The Amatory Murder titled Racing The Relapsewas released in 2008 under the band’s previous name YesMisterBloodVessel to a sold out audience at Arlene’s Grocery in New York City. They have been a featured band on 87.7FM New York’s Indie Darkroom and Canada’s Paradize Radio. Their songs have received airplay on numerous college and internet radio stations spanning from New York to England. Christian’s previous experience includes playing in the New York club circuit with his old band The Rakehells,as well as traveling with middle-eastern prog-rockers Consider The Sourcewhen called upon for additional help. Additionally in 2010, he contributed vocals to Skoda Auto’s Made Of Meaner Stuffcommercial which is currently airing throughout the United Kingdom.

Jersey Beat says, This Brooklyn, New York band artfully combine industrial synth-pop and pop-rock with fresh, surprising, and frequently exciting results.”Top Rock Radiosays, “…I would give them [The Amatory Murder] the highest accolade of having musical genius…you become at their mercy and are left begging for more……it is no surprise to me that they are serious contenders in the music industry…”while PRICK Magazinereviewed, This hodgepodge of styles and sounds is a welcome deviation from all the cookie cutter music out there.” BabySuesays: The songs are fueled by twenty-first century ideas and sounds…Peppas has a great rough and revved up voice that really sets these songs on fire…If this guy could hook up with the right folks he’d be a superstar in no time flat.”

As is emblematic withA Different Frequency,The Amatory Murderstrive to have clear communication in their music with the goal of stirring up those dark, human emotions we all have and reaching their listeners. The writing and arrangement of each track is crafted in order to get their message across to as broad an audience as possible. They have a very clear vision of what they want the future to hold for them and understand it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get there–and no corners can be cut. The Amatory Murderultimately plan on taking the world’s stage.
